Just something I’ve noticed; it’s not a criticism or conspiracy theory, (although it can sound a little excuse-y), but routinely in interviews last season:
“9 of this team are making their Premier League debuts for us.”
“6 of this team started in League One for us.”
And it was back last night:
“2 of this team started the first game last season.”
He (or someone) must have to look it up each week, yet it serves no real purpose I can see.

I think he's probably thought about the key points that he wants to make in interviews and want to ensure he has the data to back it up. |  |

I think he's probably thought about the key points that he wants to make in interviews and want to ensure he has the data to back it up. |
So maybe more part of his ‘media pack’ than his ‘analyst pack’…

That isn't a difficult stat for him to work out off the top of his head, but he just knows this stuff. By all accounts he eats, sleeps and breathes football data, so it's a bit like asking Paul Sinha what the US State capitals are. | | | |
