The best Johnson, and others 16:33 - Aug 13 with 304 viewsTattered_and_Torn

I was wondering how Ben Johnson compares to the other Johnsons from down the years.

Which got me wondering about surnames that have been shared by multiple Town players. I've gone off https://www.worldfootball.net/teams/ipswich-town/10/ for the stats and had to keep it strict with only those of the same spelling. So while there are three Woodses and one Wood, they don't count together to reach the thresholds of four needed to be added below. And not even the Thompson, Thomsen, Thomson combo gets in.

Listed is their country, position and DOB.

Before scrolling, can you guess the clear winner of most common surname in Town history? (It's not Johnson.)

That is a massively impressive list you’ve put together and please forgive me for the pedantry, but I have a feeling that Billy Clarke played under Royle and Magilton, but Billy Clark played under Keane, so it should be 6 Clarkes.

Second the research but agree with this, the midfield Billy was a Clark not a Clarke. Also by my count there are 6 Browns listed and not 5 which would make them a tied winner

Highlighting crass stupidity since sometime around 2010

Re The Johnson’s, David of the Burley late Noughties era was a great little player.
Very instrumental in our Play off winning season.
