I don’t think they’re even a thing for lower league teams. If Tom Eastman doesn’t get one, who does?) I think the problem is to attract glamorous enough opposition. Bigger clubs treat their pre-season friendlies far more scientifically these days. I think it’s the really big clubs that do still have testimonials, with the profits going to a charity of the player’s choice. [Post edited 15 Aug 9:50]
