Don't feel we need another striker with Hirst, Azon, and Akpom in the squad. Really not comfortable with the lack of full backs, it's a key position for us and having three full backs, one of them aged 40, is not ideal. Humphreys played LB as a youth but has played most of his senior football as a CM or higher up the pitch, I don't see him being viable cover at LB for the season. |  |

Don't feel we need another striker with Hirst, Azon, and Akpom in the squad. I do hear you on fullbacks, it was one of the two things that stumped me the most, the other being CM - in that in an ideal world we lose Taylor but realistically that doesnt happen.

I can see that rationale, I guess the issue is if Davis gets injured we don't have a specialist LB as back up, although Young or Johnson could cover. The knock on impact there though is we then have no full back cover either side as our only two specialist full backs are starting. Whereas if Hirst gets injured, Akpom or Azon starts and the other is on the bench to cover. The latter scenario feels less dicey to me, personally. It's tricky getting the make up of the squad right. | |

Tricky is the word! Situation probably not helped that Boniface is injured, though never seen him play so couldn't attest to how plausible that is. If he was fit and up to it that would tick all boxes as doesnt count towards 25.

I'm still very nervous about that midfield situation. I really like our defensive options and think if we can keep our key forward players fit we'll have plenty of goal threat this season.
I think our fortunes will largely be dictated by our ability to win the midfield battles and as it stands right now we've got Matusiwa who has done well in France but time will tell how he adjusts over here, Taylor who has never really been fancied by McKenna and Cajuste who looked very good last season but physical robustness is the nervousness there. We really need 1 big signing in there IMO to bind this. Hackney would've been it, he might still be, but its vital we get that recruitment right. |  | | |

Agree - CM is the juggle.
Immediate need is someone as good as Hackney to compete with Cajuste, with Matusiwa starting in the right DM spot.
But, that then gives us Cajuste, New DM, Taylor, Humphreys for the Left DM spot, and Matusiwa and maybe Barbook for the right. Unbalanced.
Taylor or Humphreys to go then, and another defensively minded DM needed. I would want Taylor to go, maybe loan or perm, but just can't see it happening. So I can see us keeping both, not getting competition for Matusiwa, and rolling the dice abit. Tricky. | | | |
