Moving a Swedish church across town 09:44 - Aug 19 with 1263 viewsSteve_M

Interesting process on going on Kiruna in Arctic Sweden to move a church across the town due to subsidence caused by mining.

There's a livestream too which is curiously addictive:

Kiruna itself is very dull, aside from moving half the town three km down the road, but it's the gateway to some stunning scenery.

Very interesting! Much closer to home, some of the older forum users will no doubt recall Ballingdon Hall in Sudbury being relocated.

Thankyou, i didn't have this in my spreadsheet.

That’s quite some ride! Did you cycle round the top of the Baltic or take a ferry from Vasa? Either way, I’m envious.

Didn’t managed to see the Baltic unfortunately, was north of it. Certainly a trip I’d do again and highly recommend. Big believer that uncomfortable trips / challenges like that in this modern day age are a great way to reset.

Might need to visit this church now though in its new location after the effort they’ve put into relocating it.
