"We felt we controlled the game & a penalty which I couldn't really see gave Preston the lead. Then they defended very well & made it difficult for us to break them down. I'm pleased with the performance and with the new lads coming in, I'm sure the results will come."

Why does he always leave the substitutions until around 65-70 mins? Clarke has spent more time twiddling his hair than playing productive football.

There was plenty to be pleased about andon another day we could have had four or five but we're fully committed to the project.

That does pretty much sum up the game. Preston got the penalty and then just shut up shop, play acted and time wasted their way through. Out lack of creativity considering our team baffles me. I can only assume it’s confidence.

Takes time to gel. Some positives to take. Stick with the plan. Early days. Unlucky. Fine margins.

Here's my answer "It's not good enough and we're paying you a lot of money to sort it out, now do your job!"

But given the players we have, we are simply not effective enough. Players who've been with us for a season are still not fully functioning and to their proven potential in the current system - Greaves, Szmodics, Clarke for example. Taylor is not an incisive enough midfielder and Matusiwa - well, let's say the jury's out on that one. Philogene still has a lot to prove. Substitutions often are too late in the game. I feel Mckenna needs a massive re-think and a fresh approach to sort all this out.

The one pleasing thing about today is that he's given an honest reaction post-match, he's right to be angry because it isn't good enough and the balance of the team is not right. But it's down to him to get the best out of these players.

Sums up the game pretty well every week. Did so all last season too. It would be nice if he actually changed things so we won a match though.

But that's exactly what we should prepare for if we go one goal down and we're not prepared for it.

Just how could we have had 4-5? We didn’t have a shot on target till the 93 min! Again we were powder puff up front the Preston defenders had them all in their pockets all game long!
