Toolkit to open up the low block? 17:32 - Aug 29 with 499 viewsjasondozzell

Does anyone else feel that some of these transfers are aimed at giving KM the arsenal to open up the low block which we are going to be coming up against a great deal this season?

It really feels that we've now added a lot more variety.

Nunez - A threat from through balls and set pieces. Takes lots of shots from outside the area.
Furlong - impressive long throw
Azon - Physicality and hard running.
Egeli - Strong runner, good physical profile, technical skill and not afraid to try things.

If we add another CM (a big if) it looks like we are looking at a Hackney type - someone who is also box to box, strong runner who can break lines and run with ball.

If you then consider Akpom, McAteer and Young - further strengths.

We're going to have a nice blend to be able to change things and attack in a variety of ways.

Yes, and I'd add Azon - Absolute poacher in six yard box for scrambles and rebounds, something we've not been the best at of late.

Yes we've really lacked that poacher type, probably since Ladapo in a way.

Feels like we have a lot of v different threats now.

Is he?

He has 25 goals across 144 games. I know nothing of him, but I'm not expecting an "absolute poacher". The most he has scored in a single league season across the past 5 in the second tier of Spanish football is 7. 7 in 24.

I note that he would have been 17 in the first 3/30 season. I also don't think a shortage of goals is an issue for us in that position, if we are doing the other stuff well. Hirst wasn't a goal machine for Blackburn, and he's been great.

But what is this comment based on?
