Utter class. Especially the way he's continued to play for Palace, rather than going on strike to force a move.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

Amused me that the preview of this thread cut the post off at 'Utter class. Especially the way he's continued to play for Palace, rat'. Given how prevelant the term 'rat' has been in this transfer window to describe several players (as in traitor), gave what I was expecting to read a whole different meaning!

But yes, good to see he did the right thing to keep playing. And, once again, to reiterate, belief in a book of fairy stories, regardless of how compelling you find it, is not an excuse for homophobia. I quite liked Roald Dahl as a kid, but find anti-semitism abhorrent, as an example...

I’m not doing this after this post - but in my opinion, if you feel SO STRONGLY against being asked to wear an armband (that signifies that everyone is free to love whoever they want, and that we should accept all sexualities) that you have to scrawl a message about religion (which is very obvious as to what that means in the context), then you are absolutely not accepting of the cause and you are homophobic. You can dress it up all you want, but that’s how it seems to me. If others don’t agree, then perhaps you need to reflect more inwardly, or perhaps you should speak to those who have personally experienced discrimination, or listen to those who make the points.

"i love jesus, jesus loves you" on a pride armband without context, strikes me more as allyship than homophobia

but if his actions elsewhere have been homophobic, that would provide context which would lead me to suspect homophobia

Poll: do you do judo and/or do you do voodoo?

This seems like wilful ignorance of the way that elements of Christianity feel about gay people. As stated in this thread, his Father is a pastor.

Anyway, yes - fantastic player who bar his silliness over a make believe man in the sky with magic powers, is very professional and a great role model.

elements of the church, yes.

however i've also been on pride marches and chatted with christians with banners apologising for the actions of churches and reiterating the same phrase.

without more context i wouldn't feel comfortable to judge him as homophobic

Of course - aye that's fair, worth doing a little research if it matters to you.
