This is the risk you retain when not selling a high value player. Injuries can happen anytime but I do wonder how often player get injuries like this after a transfer, effort changes in line with the move and your body must have an adaptive period with new training plans. Just a thought but you’d assume these things are properly monitored therefore it’s luck of the draw.

Not only can he not play for Chelsea until Jan but he can’t put himself in contention for the World Cup squad next summer. It was unlikely Tuchel would include him in the squad anyway but any small chance has surely gone now.
