I predict Sammie will eventually go the same way as Chaplin. Much loved, leader figure, character, hard working, goal poacher...but ultimately not with the physicality or legs to really affect games enough.
That's not meant to sound harsh, and it doesnt mean I wouldn't be playing him - he's ahead of Akpom currently. I just think when chances and goals are flowing so much less than they used to, age will start to show. It's 18 months since he was banging in goals for fun for Blackburn.

True but still making wrong decisions. Not sure what he was trying with that shot/pass in the first half. A lovely ball had put him into space running at goal with just the GK between him & goal and then hits a cross far too hard and it flies over the top of everyone. The Blackburn version of Szmodics, doesn't even try to pass that, he would continue running towards the goal and thumped it into the corner of the net for a goal. |  | | |

Exactly this. His confidence is low and that is affecting his finishing as much as anything. I am sure it will come as it appears to have with Philogene and be doing with Jack Clarke. If all three of them were on top form for the season we will do very well. I don't think we improved with Akpom on for him. He also seems rusty/lacking in confidence or form. |  |
