They played it along with singing the blues regularly before games during part of the MM era, around 2015 - 2017 I reckon.

No idea who owns the rights to the song but I thought Ed Sheeran would have covered it as an acoustic song by now - even if it was just on something like his Instagram. Was half expecting it to make an appearance at his Portman Road gigs.

As much as I like EEJB, Hey Jude was still belted out at least twice as loud.


Probably because many of the current attendees at Portman Road have not yet learnt the lyrics to Come On the Town (the actual name of the "EEJB" song). Not a problem for those of us who bought the single in the early '70s!

In contrast, the Hey Jude lyrics are not particularly challenging:
