Is it just me or do you find these inquiries a total waste of money ?
99 times out of 100 they only tell us what we already know and that is that most cases the handling of things like Covid wasn't carried out to the standard required.
Too many people such as Baroness Mome's husband were given contracts to supply PPE.
Had those in charge of supplies been in any way up to the job they wouldn't have had warehouses full of out of date PPE and I believe we are still paying many thousands in storage for stuff that is of no use should the need arise for it to be used.By all means go after firms that claimed furlough when they didn't need it. Such as Bookmakers who closed shops, furloughed staff and then proceeded to make more from online gambling.
It will be just like the Post Office inquiry where no one was to blame,allegedly. Even the boss conveniently didn't know what was going on. If she didn't why was she in charge and I expect she's on a nice little pension now.

Total waste of time. They’re just a way of kicking the can down the road. Need for a new Heathrow Runway? Hold about 40 inquiries over 50 years hoping you are not around when a decision is eventually made, Waspi women? Hold an inquiry or a review. Recommendations? In the bin.
The armed forces? Three reviews in four years? Result: the scrapyards have never been more busy, the army could fit in Colchester’s stadium and the navy is almost down to its last dingy. The threat from Putin? Who cares as long as there’s something nice on the HoC lunch menu.
Covid? Where to start? A total sh£tshow. No inquiry needed. It’s crystal clear what happened and who was responsible for it. Post Office? A disgrace. Inquiries = snow job on the guilty and to hope those who were victimised by it in the most disgusting way die before they could be exonerated and compensated.
And so it goes on. Inquiries and Reviews cost money. A lot of money. Any benefits that weren’t already obvious? Nah, of course not. With one exception. MP pay. When that’s reviewed the outcome and inevitable whopping pay rise is always rushed though as quickly as Dominic Cummings excuses after being caught lockdown dodging. |  | | |
