Hive: Block a contact (Android) except on one messaging app. Best way? 09:58 - Oct 17 with 561 views | NthQldITFC | One for the hive mind. I have a highly dysfunctional branch of the family (bunch of absolute Charlies, to be honest) and one of them refuses to take calls from another, where the latter needs a bit of basic support or at least awareness that the former is OK. What's the best way on an Android phone to effectively block calls and messages from a specific number (or maybe all non Contacts) APART from on one particular messaging app? Ideally if it was possible to throttle the messages even then to one per day or something, that would be whizzo! Thanks in advance for any ideas.

If I was trying it, my first thought would be to try and block calls and numbers on the phone and SMS apps and mute the notifications on WhatsApp (which is reliant on data rather than the phone line once it's linked). WhatsApp can be muted per day or permanently but @mentions will still come through. Good luck!

If so, agree an app that neither have currently that they will both load solely for the purpose of messaging each other. The one who feels bombarded can then agree to set a reminder to check it each day, but otherwise has it muted. They then block them on all other apps and accounts.

The simplest solution of all would be for this to be a burner email address used only for this purpose, like yahoo or zoho. They can schedule send it to a random time each day so the other person doesn't detect a pattern of when they are giving them attention. If I t is a messenger app then the hassling one may become aware of the time they are likely to be checking and bombard them at that time.
