Nunez 10:44 - Oct 19 with 691 viewswrightsrightglove

Time to try Nunez in a higher CAM role? Szmodics and Akpom haven’t clicked yet and it doesn’t seem like they work in our system particularly effectively, one of the reasons Hirst has looked so ineffective. When Nunez has played, his little through balls seem to get us up the pitch more quickly and have created several chances (particularly for Azon). So maybe time to use him and Azon together from the start with Matusiwa and Cajuste behind him? Limits our options off the bench but think it’s worth a go

Szmodics does most of his work off the ball. He works very hard to pull defenders about and creating space for others.

I don't know if that's what McKenna wants from the role, but he was an unsung hero IMO against Nodge doing this

The little through balls from his existing position. He may not have the time and space to be able to make them from further up the pitch, amidst a more concentrated defensive structure.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Said this a few weeks ago. To me he's not a CM unless we play with three.

He also wouldn't be able to demonstrate his /range/ of passing, which is first rate, at least in this division.

I'd be loathe to put him in the 10, but then neither Akpom nor Smodders are seeming to contribute a lot right now. If neither of them can become as effective as Chaplin was two years ago, then one wonders what spending all that money and binning off Chaplin was about.

See also Broadhead and Luongo. Burns clearly more unfortunate, but one of Ogbene, Egeli and McAteer should be able to at least be a non-downgrade with around £35m spent on that position. That could nearly get you an Omari. Wonder what he's up to these days...
