Hang on, I thought a pen was supposed to be recompense for illegal denial of a goalscoring opportunity? Thus if a goal was actually scored, is no longer relevant.
As you say, is no advantage to the wronged team, as it may miss/be saved. |  |

According to BBC Sport there was an offside in the build up too, so had the penalty not been given the goal would have been chalked off entirely [Post edited 21 Oct 2025 19:13]
