We didn't do too much wrong really, but really need to get our composure back in the final third as we fluff so many good positions and chances, so what should have been a pretty comfortable win ended up a narrow one.

West Brom fans deserve some props for turning up in numbers to watch such negative football though - rarely seen a team of that stature make so little attempt to commit players forward, it was anti football from them for long periods, just playing for 0-0 and nothing more.

That approach from West Brom made the game a frustrating spectacle with several period where it felt like nothing was happening at all.

Starting to feel a bit for Hirst. He's having a really tough time of it, nothing working at all for him, and the crowd getting on his back.

Nunez looks a good fit for the 10 role, much more focus on linking play and bringing in others than Sammy and Akpom have, and looks like we might need him there now.

I thought it was both a narrow and comfortable win. They had 2 shots on target the first of them right near the end and I don't think Walton had a real save to make. We were much better defensively. We also created plenty of chances to score but continued to waste too many of them. Taking one was enough. A win is a win and we deserved to win that as much as Boro did when we played them.

Incredible from West Brom.

Never came for a win but even when they turned possession they didn't try and go forward. They did the Charlton defending bit but forgot to actually run forward with the ball. I would be fuming if I was a baggies fan.

As for us, good bits, bad bits. Jack Clarke, has to play. Id now be trying Nunez in the 10. The striker situation is an issue but I still think I would persist with Hirst.

Pretty much spot on.

Our finishing is worrying me. Apart from Philogene's shot which was brilliantly saved, our shooting has been abysmal recently, not even close to target a lot of the time. Even the goal took 2 or 3 attempts despite being gifted to us. There is no point in the patterns, the positioning, creating chances if we're then not finishing them.

However, if that comes good we will be on fire! Defensively solid today too.

Most important thing was the win.
