| Recommended Care services in Ipswich? (dementia related) 10:59 - Oct 30 with 402 views | brazil1982 | Hello My mother has dementia, father is the designated carer who is not coping at all. I would like to arrange for a Carer to visit several times a week for them both, but really to give Dad respite. Does anyone have any care agency recommendations for the Ipswich area please? I've no idea where to begin. Thanks, | | | | |

Her experience of carers wasn't good, can ask her who she used. This week he is under the care of the "React" Team, (which I think is Social Services / NHS) and they've been amazing, they identified that he could possibly do with a 2nd hand rail on Tuesday and today the fella has just finishing fitting it. They also have a carer from Colombia who I surprised by talking to her in Spanish. Doesn't help you but felt it was an excuse to share What may help you if Ipswich area -> HONEYSUCKLE OUR-WORLD is a fantastic day care centre where dad goes 3 times a week. [Post edited 30 Oct 13:49]

Anyone who’s been down this road knows just how difficult it is. But that doesn’t really help you in the here and now. I ‘interviewed’ a care agency when my dad was in serious trouble and as a result was going to engage them before events over ran them (my dad’s health completely collapsed). However when I’m back in the country at the weekend I’ll look them up and give you the address and number. You are very wise to look for respite for your dad. It’s very easy to underestimate the strain of looking after loved ones in that situation. By all means pm me if you need a view on anything - or just to bounce ideas or have a good rant.
