fair play to them, their recruitment has been exceptional

Their manager is defensively very astute

They're doing well at the minute. It'll be interesting to see where they end up, they've conceded fewer than you'd expect and scored more than you'd expect based on their underlying stats and that is hard to sustain over a full season. From what I've seen they are a very hard working team and Xhaka in the middle gives them that bit of class that I imagine we hoped we'd get from Phillips. Not sure how they've done on the injury front so far but that's something that can really hamper newly promoted sides who lack the depth of established Prem sides.

Defensively they are very solid and play on the break

We tried to go more toe to toe without the defensive credentials to really get away with it

It was brave but probably a bit foolish too, if we do go back up, we go up with strong foundations this time around

We'll still need a hell of a window to stay up

Apologies. Accidental down arrow. Thought I’d given you an uppie ☹️

Haha, no worries.

I do think what Sunderland is doing is remarkable and they’ve given themselves enough space to be ok even if their form fades. Quite an achievement.

It’s noticeable that Leeds and Burnley are beginning to drift into trouble. Also noticed Hutchinson has an assist and drawn a penalty for Forest. Maybe he’s settling and gaining the manager’s confidence.

Lastly, Newcastle. They look really off it this season. Strange for an Eddie Howe team.
