Ticket booking fees. How much longer? 10:21 - Nov 18 with 1021 viewsMeadowlark

I'm sure Ashton said that this was a legacy of the Evans era and would be ended as soon as the existing contract expired. How much longer??

Probably unreleated ... but I read something really interesting about ticketmaster a while back.

The anger they get directed at them for their fees is a feature, not a bug.

If (say) Taylor Swift* charges £100 for a concert and Ticketmaster charge £50 in booking fees everyone shouts at Ticketmaster, but buy the tickets.

But Ticketmaster only keep £10 of that. The other £40 goes to the artist.

If Taylor Swift* charged £140 plus a £10 fee everyone would shout at her. Instead both the artist and ticketmaster are happy for ticketmaster to take the flack. The same amount of money ends up in the same places, but the artist's brand isn't tainted.

* I vaguely remember Swift was actually active in keeping ticket prices for her Eras tour down, but I may be mistaken. Substitute some other artist if you like. Oasis maybe.

I think he said they would be absorbed into the ticket price rather than being separate.

For the home tickets there are no booking fees, but there's been quite a price increase, that might be why.

From next season I believe I'm correct that all tickets will be digital, which will remove the £2 postage costs on away tickets.

"I think he said they would be absorbed into the ticket price rather than being separate"

99.9% sure that would be illegal. If there is a separate 'booking fee' it must be displayed.
Think the issue is related to the deal Evans signed with 'Seat Geek' rather than with the club itself.
