Goals should not be our problem! 23:36 - Nov 23 with 746 viewsFabianski

Lots of focus on who is our best No. 10, but why are we not giving one of our two forwards who have finished the season as championship top scorers, a run out in the CF position? Szmodics and Akpom have both scored more in one season for Blackburn and Boro than Hirst has in his entire ITFC career.

Szmodics playing striker in this system would be a disaster.

Akpom might be ok there, but he has never really been an out and out number 9.

Szmodics played as a 10, more of a SS in that 10 role, at Blackburn.
Akpom also played as a 10 at Middlesbrough.

Szmodics actually played half-decent stuff last season out of position before his injury problems started.
He finally started to look good against West Brom before he came off injured again. Just his luck.

Neither of them are 9s, but you could try Akpom there. Unfortunately, his performances have not been good enough, and his finishing has not been good enough either. I still can't believe that miss against Charlton.

Or look at how they play realise they don't suit or system so change it or don't waste the money?

Akpom would certainly be worth a try. Our 9 is a mobile forward rather than a target man, which seems to be Akpom’s game. Before he’d joined us he’d played more as a striker than a 10, but everyone fixates on his time at ‘Boro. He’s most definitely not a ball-playing creative 10, which seems to be how we want him to play. I say ‘seems’ because it’s not obvious to me what we’re trying to do with him.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?
