We just don't think we are at or close to "get rid" stage. Not yet. Still feel like those calling for his head already are overreacting. Appreciate the longer this season goes on with below par results, the more are going to switch camps.

| Just for everyone's assurance on 09:06 - Dec 3 with 425 views | homer_123 | I'm still firmly behind KM (I'm not sure there are more credible options about anyway). I'm not blindly optimistic, I tend to be objective and balanced. We were poor last night, no ifs or buts. A lovely finish from Egeli aside, a pretty poor performance all-round. In isolation, not a huge problem but against the wider backdrop on poor results, not great as the direction of travel is heading in the wrong direction. KM nailed it post match last night and he and the lads knew it - you could see it after the final whistle. I completely understand the frustration others have and understand that others will be either be more positive than I or less so. I guess my point is this. I suspect we all agree that we are not having the kind of start to the season that we wanted - I doubt anyone thinks that we have played well in any consistent kind of way. I doubt anyone is happy or remotely defended last nights performance and rightly so. Where we differ is what we do going forward. | |

I can post my view on that Mullers but this is where we diverge as fans.

I think I've stated on here numerous times, I don't think we are far away from clicking (last night aside, which saw a poor performance and a negative direction of travel). My view is that (last night aside) we do create chances, even against teams that have played a low block against us. We simply haven't converted those chances at any kind of consistent level - we've been profligate in front of goal. We've also seen some rather silly mistakes defensively where we have been punished - I'd see an improvement there (until Oxford) but when you put the above and this together - we've ended up losing/ drawing games we should have won. Therefore, I don't feel wholesale changes are needed - I've seen enough about us to be confident we are more than good enough at this level. It's the fact that our confidence and belief is low that I think is our biggest problem. I do think there is one position that is causing us an issue though and I have posted on this. It's that CAM position. For whatever reason, Akpom, Sammy, Nunez etc. all seem ill equipped to play in that role for us. Oddly, Egeli is the one that has looked a little more natural for us there in that cameo role. That CAM role is key to knitting together our play, out ability to move the ball quickly from side to side, to draw out and stretch an opposition. It's the link between our 2 holding midfielders and the front 4. It's also been a source of goals for us as well as creating numerous scoring chances for others. No one has nailed that position this season. Broadly, I don't have any major concerns about other positions on the pitch, I do have a small question mark over central midfield (Matsi aside). But I think if we sort out the CAM role, we'll find that central midfield will be less of an issue. Can we improve the squad? Always. Should we improve in January? Yes. Will we? I hope so. I suspect we'll see a striker come in, I hope someone in the CAM role as well. Possibly a central midfielder as well. I suspect I'm in the minority as, basically, I wouldn't change a huge amount. I would like to see us sort out that CAM position as I do think that will make a huge difference to us. I will also repeat that I'm not happy with how we have started the season. Last night was poor, dire in fact and we've had a few results that really shouldn't have been what they were. So, I'm far from happy. But I see enough to still be confident. A lot of football to be played and I think we are still going to come good.

I agree with a lot of that. We are c.8 points behind where we would want to be, and I think the difficulty is most of us see that there doesn't appear to be a huge amount wrong. We have the players (and so we should, with a budget most can only dream of), so those performances need to come. I'm not in the KM out brigade, but I am starting to wonder why he cant get a tune from this squad. The level of rotation annoys the hell out of me.

"The level of rotation annoys the hell out of me." Oh I get that, I can understand the frustration there and it's amplified when you see a performance like last night. And yes, expectations are, rightly, higher given our budget, spend and squad - so the patience fans have is less. Again, understandable. I hope we don't panic and I hope that KM continues to stay true to his approach (which isn't rigid) and tweaks and adapts as he has done during his tenure with us.

Can I jump in with my own answer to that question! My view is that I don't understand the need for the mass rotation that KM persists with. I really don't think it helps, and to see players that are clearly of lesser effectiveness playing ahead of a bunch of better performing players as we did last night is galling! I get a bit of rotation - 1 or 2 a game, but the 5, 6 or even 7 is just to much and the performances do not seem to have justified the decisions he's made. I get that it's a busy schedule, but I hoe he and the coaches can see that the team just isn't settling together. Edit - oh, and please, please speed up the play! [Post edited 3 Dec 11:03]

The last two performances / results have been unacceptable and for me it needs to improve pretty quickly, despite the difficulty of our next 3 fixtures.
