On so many great Stax and Atlantic tracks.

Oh no.

Absolute legend.

Another reminder our musical heroes can't live forever.

A great clip of Steve with the SNL crew before the Blues Brothers film was created.

Steve just drives this track on so effortlessly.

That sweet sound.

Distortion becomes somehow pure in its wildness.

I've always liked this cover of a song he co-wrote.

Saw him at UEA in the early 90s.

He was in a band with Dion, Dave Edmunds, Graham Parker, Bruce Springsteen's horn section plus Terry Williams(Dire Straits) and Phil Chen (Jeff Beck, Rod Stewart)

Epic night!

Bona fide legend, drove and co wrote so much of that fantastic Stax output. Black and white guys doing the business in The South during difficult times. All were hit hard when Otis died, but it kept coming. Between them and Detroit we were given some of the greatest music ever.

That's sad, a giant of 20th century music.

Only Booker T Jones left of the classic MGs line up now.
