Kieran’s properly p*ssed with the fanbase 14:57 - Dec 5 with 7960 viewsChris_ITFC

The wry smile on his face after airing this said it all.

Can't let this become a narrative. Players read stuff, there are players who have made three, four five appearances. If you're an ITFC player, need to get behind them. If there's a narrative other than that, that's detrimental to the players. We'll pick the right team for the next six games in December and team will pick up good results.

Edit - The wry smile:

I believe our fan base is dreadful. One of the worst. I’ve thought this for a while now. It’s easy to cheer when things are going well. Last minute goals etc, but support is meant to be more than that. A lot more. You learn what people are like as individuals when things don’t go so well. That goes for the collective too.

Heckling, booing getting on your own players backs, mocking them - who on earth in their right mind would want to play for this club bar those who want the money? If I was a Clarke, Philogene, the keepers, Hirst, I’d be badgering my agent to get me a move ASAP.

It’s actually far more toxic that at any time I can ever remember it, including the long suffering Duncanites or those who endured the Evans dross. It always quiet, but patient. Not now. It’s a society thing? I don’t buy that.

It’s in the nature of a large number that follow this club home and away. My money, I’ll do what I like? Don’t buy that either. Not when kids are there listening to foul mouthed torrents of abuse or adults who neither want or need to hear it. Who are these witless bed-defecators who think they have the right to do it anyway? What gives them the right to be so entitled? If they don’t like it, p£ss off and play dominoes or something.

So the season isn’t going as well as we all hoped. So what? How does dishing up the abuse help the players and the team? When the players throw the towel in as they did under Cook and just after he left, fine.

If or more likely when McKenna jumps ship this season or at the end of it, don’t be surprised. The bedwetters and misery merchants who so enjoy wading in will all have played their part.

I will disagree with it being far more toxic than any time you remember when you say you say through the Evans era. The atmosphere in the final months of McCarthy was utterly poisonous. Far worse than it is now. I still remember the rebellious air in the stadium after losing 3-0 to Hill, and I believe we were still mathematically in the play off hunt at that point.

But the slow turn does remind me of the start of the resentment towards McCarthy. The club is at the crossroads and, for all the division on here on whether it's fair or not, there is only one way to bring the fans back together - winning games.

A separate post because someone mentioned McAteer and I do agree he's never been given a chance, with people questioning his signing from the off. For me, he is the unlucky standard bearer of our messy approach to the transfer window - we had Egeli and Ogbene, did we really need to spend on another right winger when we had no back up to Matusiwa, our fourth choice centre back is a full back and, if anything happens to Davis, we'd have to move a centre back or central midfielder to cover left back due to Townsend's long term injury? There were bigger holes in the squad left unfilled so we could move out someone on loan who was more than adequate cover?

McAteer is a victim of circumstances and unfortunately, more than anyone, probably had to hit the ground running. Even more unfortunately, for both him and us, he hasn't. But if he's on the team sheet today it's time to get fully behind him, and the other 19 in the squad.

I have to disagree. The McCarthy discontent was largely towards him and his way of playing and to a lesser extent our apology of an owner. Less so the players. Same when the crowd had had enough of Jewell and the inept McGiven after Lyall had given up.
