You are right and it’s weird. When I go to games, I switch the phone off or have it on silent, just as I do if I’m with someone/out as I was last night. The messages can wait. A good chum of mine won’t leave his phone alone. I think it’s bizarre, stupid and rude. You either want to be in the pub with your chums or not. It really isn’t difficult. Obviously, there are exceptions such a a partner in hospital or waiting for an urgent call on something, but I’ll always say up front, just out of curtesy. The world still turned without mobiles and social media and while they’re a fantastic invention there are downsides attached. |  | |  |
