Sad news. Tremendous winger during the heyday of Brian Clough's Forest reign. Looked overweight, a smoker and drinker, rarely strayed infield from the touchline, but on his day he was unplayable.

Scored the winner in one European Cup Final, created the winner for Trevor Francis in another, and had a very successful spell at several clubs, including Celtic, as Martin O'Neill's assistant.

Another great personality from my youth leaves us.

I was fortunate enough to know Robbo quite well a number of years ago when I worked at Larry Lloyd’s boozer in Nottingham

Robbo and Larry were fantastic guys and I guarantee one thing , they’ll be having one hell of a party up there

RIP Robbo (& Larry )

'His 2012 biography Supertramp referenced Clough's description of him as a "scruffy, unfit, uninterested waste of time" who he turned into "one of the finest deliverers of a football I have ever seen, as fine as the Brazilians or the Italians".

His captain at Forest, John McGovern, described him as "like Ryan Giggs but with two good feet, not one" and with more ability.'

But:

'before going on to be assistant manager to former Forest team-mate Martin O'Neill with Wycombe Wanderers, Norwich City, Leicester City, Celtic and Aston Villa.' although to be honest I never noticed so we can forgive him that.

I remember him playing a blunder at the 1978 charity shield while a couple of his mates passed him a couple of tins of tenants and ciggies through the fence
