He won his battle against Clarke both physically and mentally. Clarke lost the head a bit and Furlong was focused and didn’t let it phase him.

Likewise Walton keeping the ball at his feet waiting for their press.

But even then he wasn't bad, I thought both fullbacks were outstanding. It says something when you can say Kipre and O'Shea didn't have that much to do and our keeper looks good at crosses coming in. Obviously Clarke had to be MOTM. Isn't it great when you have Philogene as a back up. But cautiously I'm not going to go overboard. Because we have fallen foul of games against teams like Oxford before. They certainly won't be as open as Coventry and will no doubt be open to a bit of sh*thousery.

Furlong had the highest of all Town players. To me that's an interesting stat, and emphasises the consistency of the guy. I think he's been a solid presence this season, and we can have a Leif (or indeed a Greaves!) constantly bombing up and down both sides. It will be interesting to see how he links up with Burns, assuming Wes gets the minutes that many of us hope he gets.

I like Furlong too and I think he brings really good balance in conjunction with our attacking left back. We shouldn't be looking for the same both sides, that's one of our strengths. But the old goal difference / points difference when a player is on the pitch is a meaningless one for a number of reasons: sample size too small, opposition variable, team mates not consistent etc. etc. etc. It's a completely useless, worse than that, a misleading 'stat' in my opinion.
