Overall feeling about yesterday (and Cov) 13:13 - Jan 2 with 312 viewsNthQldITFC

I didn't read a huge amount on here about yesterday, but I spent a little time in the chat room during the game, and did read a few threads on the forum afterwards. I was a little surprised at some of the slightly negative views expressed, maybe these were mostly related to the narrowness of the scoreline?

I thought that we started both games with real purpose, and some of the football yesterday particularly was breathtaking - much involving Nunez and Cajuste in the first half particularly. There seemed to me to be a different energy about us; we seemed to be playing a yard faster and taking on and pulling off some really intricate moves to play through Oxford. The swagger was back, like 2023-24 at times.

I saw it as a step change, and feel more upbeat about where we're going to go now than many fans seem to. Even Cajuste in his comments and KMc weren't as upbeat about a lot of the performance as they could have been, but I suppose it can useful to keep expectations down a bit still.

Yes you can say we should have been out of sight - we should - but I think the last two games have marked a significant jump forward for us.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

I agree with you, but expectations are so high that some arrive expecting a comprehensive win, forgetting that there’s another team trying to stop us.

I think we’re unlikely to see the end of supporter entitlement and ignorance any time soon, given the reaction to an underwhelming start. As noted on another thread we still have people who don’t understand our baiting of the press after more than 4 years.

I thought we were really good first half. Oxford scored with a nice move tbf.

2nd half we looked leggy, got a bit sloppy especially with long balls over the top but in this period of games I expect performances like that.

Was a really good win, Oxford are a strange team who seem to play pretty well vs the better teams in the league.

Most of the town supporters I've spoken to recently agree we are where we deserve to be, and not getting carried away with any HMS piss-the-league nonsense.

Realistically, that win over Oxford was good, job done, not much to wax lyrical about but nothing to be concerned about either. Oxford looked very weak, particularly in the first half and one of the worst teams i've seen at PR this season along with Portsmouth. My money would be on those 2 joining Wednesday in getting relegated

Personally, I have been very happy with the performances and can see the progress and potential all across the squad. We made Coventry look bang average for the most part. Oxford were never going to be the pushover many were expecting, but we controlled the game for 80 minutes and played some cracking stuff at times, their ‘keeper was in fine form also.

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.
