You know they do still report stuff that actually happens don't you, unlike your tweet from a few days ago! Regarding this one, yeah that's poor, fortunately the Board of Peace will be more attentive.

So does Russia Today. Doesn't make any less of a mouthpiece for a despotic regime and anyone with any credibility shouldn't go anywhere near it.

The deaths are appalling, as is the regime but again, considering your take on Al Jazeera it's bizarre to say the least that you're promoting an unverified claim and that your comment begins with "If........."

Haaretz is reporting today that Israel expects the US to take action but are not sure when. https://www.haaretz.com/israel The problem though is that it is not clear to me that military action will achieve much given the firm grip that the regime has. Someone on the World Service suggested that the regime has the hard-line support of only 15-20% of the population but if the Revolutionary Guard is entirely made up of such people, that doesn't necessarily offer hope. It was also stated that all internal possible opposition leaders have been silenced. As an aside, Omid was on Sky this morning. [Post edited 23 Jan 8:52]

From the bloke who linked Hamas Oficial media misinformation regarding the bombing of the al-Ahli Hospital, and then left it up unedited despite the claims being trashed, I find your post staggering. You seem to be pushing back quite a bit on this thread Banksy.

Christ alive. Agree on red lines, but can you see anything happening? The West seems to be more cautious after the Iraq and Afghanistan debacles. Trump may hit them with some more bombs, but surely any regime change would need boots on the ground (and rarely ends well for anyone).

Trump didn't get his own way in Greenland so he'll need something new to occupy his mind. The Qataris will be urging Trump to use caution ans they did buy him a big jet so he is beholden to them to an extent. Then again, he is highly unpredictable. Israel be attacked if the US go in, so they will join in. One would hope a pan Arab coalition would get involved. If the Iranian regime collapses that will cut the funding for a lot of terrorist organizations in the middle east. [Post edited 23 Jan 10:27]

| Iranian State claiming 2000 protesters dead on 14:55 - Jan 18 by GlasgowBlue | New reports from doctors in Iran reveal that at least 16,500–18,000 protesters were killed by Khamenei’s regime, including children and pregnant women, and 330,000 were injured, according to The Sunday Times. Most of the victims were killed during a two-day massacre following the protests, and the majority were under 30 years old. “Tell the whole world that on Friday they sprayed everyone with gunfire. The IRGC forces were calmly trying to aim for people’s heads,” said one survivor of the protests. One eye hospital in Tehran alone, Noor Clinic, has documented 7,000 eye injuries. “There are so many shotgun-related eye injuries that we do not know whom to treat first,” said one ophthalmologist. Many young Iranians have died because of blood shortages. Medical staff have been donating their own blood in an attempt to save patients, but in some cases, security forces refused to allow blood transfusions. This cannot be allowed to slip out of the news cycle. |

yes, does seem odd that weather in america and returning the remains of one israeli is bigger news than the death of thousands of iranians. i guess the people of yemen and darfur would say, welcome to our world [Post edited 26 Jan 14:52]

The mainstream news outlets, if BBC and to a lesser degree, ITV, are still considered as part of that, do seem to think people can’t cope with the genuinely important stuff running for more than a few days. They judge weather bombs, Trump’s latest nonsense, Farage, Putin saluting something, PL footy manager churn and, as you say, locating a single Israeli corpse, to be far more newsworthy. And we wonder why we are where we are….

That's not quite true. BBC Verify and BBC Persian have been investigating as best they can but it is difficult to get information due to the clampdown and internet black-out. Here are three examples, the last from yesterday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/art [Post edited 27 Jan 8:23]

One of those articles is nearly two weeks old. Here is BBC News homepage. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news No mention of Iran. Click on BBC World News and not a mention https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/wor And I'm calling bullsh1t on the excuse that it is difficult to get information due to the clampdown and internet black-out. There is and has been plenty of verified footage com ing out of Iran. The press aren't allowed in Gaza. Hasn't stopped daily coverage from the Beeb. It even has its own tab at the top of BBC News homepage.

I think there's always been pretty little Western interest in the plight of the Iranian people, in contrast to Western interest in relation to the impact of Iran outside its borders. But I doubt there are many better news outlets when it comes to reporting global news than the BBC, and there's been plenty of coverage on the World Service, but inevitably given the uprising appears to have been quelled that aspect will fall from coverage, just as Gaza and Ukraine these days come into and out of the news depending on whether there is anything considered newsworthy happening. As it is, the BBC is clearly is still trying to ascertain what went on in much more difficult and restrictive conditions than Gaza, but it does have journalistic standards it has to uphold so can't just print anything. This is the main story on the front page of today's Guardian. Also interesting to hear on the World Service this morning from an Iranian historian who said that the regime's grip on power is now much weaker than one might have thought. [Post edited 28 Jan 8:29]

| Iranian State claiming 2000 protesters dead on 13:19 - Jan 28 with 289 views | DJR | This recent post on Truth Social suggests Trump is more interested in a nuclear deal than the plight of the Iranian people. 'Twas ever thus as I mentioned in an earlier post. https://truthsocial.com/@realD "A massive Armada is heading to Iran. It is moving quickly, with great power, enthusiasm, and purpose. It is a larger fleet, headed by the great Aircraft Carrier Abraham Lincoln, than that sent to Venezuela. Like with Venezuela, it is, ready, willing, and able to rapidly fulfil its mission, with speed and violence, if necessary. Hopefully Iran will quickly 'Come to the Table' and negotiate a fair and equitable deal - NO NUCLEAR WEAPONS - one that is good for all parties. Time is running out, it is truly of the essence! As I told Iran once before, MAKE A DEAL! They didn’t, and there was 'Operation Midnight Hammer,' a major destruction of Iran. The next attack will be far worse! Don’t make that happen again."
