When I lived in London, I enjoyed tuning in to the pirate stations that you could pick up on FM playing all sorts of niche music, such as ragga, drum'n'base etc.

Very impressive. I've actually seen heavy metal/rock drummers attempt to play jungle in a studio in the mid 90,s. None of um could put it off. Shoulds got this lad in

I used to go and watch LTJ Bukem a lot in the late 90's early 2000's and he did live set of Logical Progression with a full band and a sampler. Staggeringly talented musicians to recreate the entire album almost beat perfect

The second half of the video, where he starts doing (not sure of my terminology here...) break beats with the snare and other drum above... wow!
Has anyone ever looked at their own postings for last day or so? Oh my... so sorry. Was Ullaa

Sorry I have to correct you but you mean Drum and Bass! Seen that clip before but pretty impressive of a classic 90's SS tune. DnB and Jungle is now absolutely massive and sadly too commercial and as such lost its soul!

I went to see Orcadian fiddle band The Chair the weekend before last and they had some drum'n'bass as their walk on music but only the backline walked on, then the drum'n'bass faded and the same music was being played by timbales, kit drum, acoustic guitar and bass guitar. Never underestimate the determined madness of folkies from the Orkneys.

Yeah sorry, this isn't my normal bag, although I've always liked it from the sidelines. Happy to be corrected and learn!

Wow indeed.
Has I said back in the 90,s we tried to get in death metal drummers and all sorts of other drummers to play jungle live in the studio. ( even tried some bloke who'd been a drummer in the iraqi military)
Many of um appeared to be incredible drummers but as soon as we gave um a jungle beat and asked um to replicate it they really struggled. ( often to the amusements/bemusement of the jungle lads trying to record it.
I can't remember if we ever worked out what the issue was, but think we believed it was something to do with the weird offbeat used in jungle ( not sure if that's correct terminology either)

That's really interesting - I can well believe how hard it would be - I can barely see the guy's hands move! Sounds like you had some intriguing times.

Saw Roni Size/Reperazent in Norwich late 90's and he had a full drum kit and double bass on the stage with him. Recently saw 808 State up there to and again they were accompanied by a full drum kit and guitars
