Reflecting on Saturday. 10:47 - Feb 23 with 885 viewshomer_123

Have to say, I thought both teams were pretty poor defensively, if you look at the goals conceded at the weekend. Just an observation and not trying to make Saturday any better or make excuses.

Way too much time and space afforded attacking players, not enough challenging or working off the ball, poor clearances/ half clearances etc.

Couple of decent finishes from Moore and Kipre but even for those, not great defending from Town or Wrexham. An odd game where you want to say 'attackers' really shone but actually, I think the eight goals were more to do with poor defensive play all around.

Just my observations, not saying I'm right.

Certainly didn't look like 2 sides who are anywhere close to being ready for promotion tbh. I can't really comment on Wrexham as I've not seen enough of them, but from our perspective it was more of an exception than the norm. We've generally been pretty solid defensively this season, but Saturday was a circus. Soft as shit, porous and too many individual errors. Hopefully its one we can draw a line under and bounce back from quickly.

Not wishing to be one of the OTT moaners, but isn't a game where the opposition goes toe-to-toe with us exactly what we usually want?

Having come back to 2-2 at halftime, and even more so going 3-2 up early in the 2nd half, you expect us to at that point say that's it, don't concede again - i'm sure this point has already been made a number of times since Saturday evening

It was a great game for the neutral.

Had we not collapsed defensively part way though the second half we'd still be celebrating a wonderful comeback win. Such collapses have been rare for us this season.

It has and you're absolutely right.

I'm hoping that the defensive cock-ups on Saturday, or rather the quantity of them, turns out to be the exception rather than the norm. Looking for much more solid performances tomorrow evening.

I thought all of O'Shea, Kipre and Matusiwa were well below their usual standards. Obviously DOS made the most obvious errors but he was far from alone. Neither Furlong or Walton were great either.

I thought the match was an excellent advert for football as a sport and the Championship as a league

I was thoroughly entertained as the balance in the match shifted, it was good end to end stuff

I think there were defensive errors by our side and these errors were punished; this was our undoing last season as any mistake seemed to be pounced upon and the ball in the back of our net.... sadly there were 3 bad mistakes by one of our defenders, no name, no pack drill.

Entertaining, feisty, hard-fought and ultimately disappointing.... but enough about my ex.

Much better than some yawn filled bore-fest.

We were very slow to get going and that half-assed casual attitude cost us the game. Criminal we don’t test their mediocre keeper more than we did.

What's odd is that in 23/24 we seemed to thrive in chaotic end to end games. This time it seems the complete opposite.
