So tonight has really made me realise how fractured society is at the moment, and how that impacts supporting a football club.

People are either right or wrong, happy clappers or bedwetters, positive trolls or negative trolls.

Life is shades of grey, not black and white. Why has social media pushed us into this tribal mentality?

I love my football club. I get frustrated when we lose, and I love it when we win. Neither outcome affects my life as a whole. I don't get angry, or feel the need to spit bile at players lacking confidence.

Why don't we as "supporters" of our club, just get behind these people and encourage them to do the best they possibly can for our club?

I've been going to games since the mid eighties. These times are amongst the best of times. Embrace it. If we stumble, it's not the end of the world. Ultimately, we all the want the same outcome. I said to my boy 2 years ago, "This isn't normal. Remember this."

Now it seems like everyone wants the "this isn't normal" all the time.

Good lad. Thanks for demonstrating a sense of proportion.

It’s not just the binary nature of things imo. People also seem to have a lack of patience and poor resilience these days. Add it all together and it get so tiring with everyone worked up and flouncing off all the time.

Poll: Do you think Pert is key to all of this?

It’s well reflected on here, lose and it’s wild takes like KM out (best Town manager in my time by a country mile). But equally gloating posts today like ‘haha told you bedwetters etc’. That’s divisive too, the truth is somewhere in the middle- we aren’t terrible, but we’ve not won the league either and turned out some poor results/performances.

Both ‘sides’ are as bad as each other.
