Didn't Mick once describe him as playing like he's got a cigarette in his mouth?

Don't think Mick ever managed him, did he? Woolfenden would have been in the under 21s during that time.

Does sound like a Mick thing to say, though.

Poll: Who would you play at right centre back on Saturday?

McKenna and his own attitude, ability and capability to improve. I think he was frustrated at the way his time ended here and his comments on leaving were knee-jerk and unneccessary but lets not rewrite how good he was for in his last three seasons. Never let us down in the PL when he played and simply the victim of us getting an upgrade on O'Shea.

Must be our most successful academy product in over a decade (or joint with Downes but for impact here, the most successful) and we should be proud of that. I don't really see the need to bash any of that double promotion winning team.

I’m a bit neither here nor there on it. I don’t think ill of him as I think he was a fantastic player for us in those 2 seasons (and before those under McKenna). I was actually gutted to see him leave in the summer, even more so when we didn’t replace him.

But McKenna’s comments upon finding out what Woolfie had said were telling also. I thought it was an incredibly stupid comment given how 8 months earlier he was happy to sign a new contract. What politics were involved with that?

And as I say, the contrast between the way he and Chaplin spoke about the club upon leaving tells its own tale. Chaplin spent his whole welcome interview at Pompey lauding McKenna and Ipswich and almost admitting that he didn’t want to be there. That’s coming from someone who was also sidelined last season, having been part of an incredibly successful side.

Poll: We’ve got super KM, he knows exactly what we need. Woolfie at the back…

There is a difference between the two - Woolfenden was sold, Chaplin is still a Town player.
