| Simply 09:29 - Mar 11 with 651 views | cressi | A bunch of players who are decent individuals hence why I never used the word team. Over ninety minutes I have seen only one complete performance away at Coventry yes some decent patches in individual games. I don't see the mentality of the team who went up who never knew what giving up meant. Although the riches of the Premiership would be welcomed losing by 4 or 5 on a regular basis won't be. If it is the play offs beckoning I'm far from convinced this group including McKenna have what it takes to get over the line I guess only time will tell if they can step up to the plate. | | | | |

A game of football is based on 90 minutes plus not a decent 30 minutes if it was based on 30 minutes I guess you are watching another sport.

nope, it's the score at the end of the match. you can dominate for 90 minutes and not win, see coventry-norwich, ipswich-maidstone etc etc

Yes, but leading at 3-2 with seconds to go where was the game management? Running the ball into corners, booting the ball into Row Z, even amateur players know how to see out the dying seconds of a game. That is part of the team's mentality as well? Tippy-tappy sideways and backwards play aside, we look like a kid with ADHD in many games this season when the entire team (or majority of) switches off and blanks out during the game leading to catastrophic consequences.

nonsense, plenty of teams are unable to see out the dying seconds of a game, that's why there's so many last minute goals. if it was a question of mentality as the op said, we'd have given up at 2-0 down! if the 2 dodgy calls would have gone the other way and we'd have scored a late winner in both games, would we suddenly be perfect mentally? no, it's incredibly fine margins and mentality isn't the issue

Relegation fodder perhaps, but do you see any top 6 team especially our closest rivals conceding injury time goals and giving away stupid penalties like we do? Look at how Boro dispatched QPR with ruthless efficiency from the first whistle. None of the tippy tappy aimless play in the 1st half plus stupid kamikaze defending like last night and boom! we make it so much more difficult for ourselves. Penalty or not, you can't argue that if we were as clinical and ruthless like Boro were v QPR we'd still have won 1-4. Letting in stupid goals and then switching off in injury time aren't a hallmark of a team chasing automatic promotion. And performances like last night isn't a one off, it has become a regular occurrence this season. The team, and perhaps even McK, just doesn't learn from their mistakes. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

if we were as clinical as boro v qpr, we'd have won. if we were as clinical as boro v oxford, we wouldn't. every team lets in last minute goals, every team scores last minute goals.
