That Millwall goal is what we were missing 14:52 - Mar 21 with 741 viewsTractorJack

Perfect cross, run and finish. And they did it when getting in to that position once all game (other than set pieces). We've got in to those positions time after time and the final action is so often not good enough.

Exactly, they have one clear opening all game and make it count, the amount of 4 on 4 breakaways we fluffed, ugh.

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?

They were pretty quick and crisp with their passing when they did have the ball. Whereas we often look slow ponderous and sloppy. Thought Clarke had a brilliant game until he was shifted for Jaden, nobody else really stood out for me.

Thought Azon did well outside of the penalty box. McAteer had a good first half, as did Neil. The subs were unusually ineffective and, if anything, ruled out any chance of us winning.

Millwall scoring so early second half was the biggest problem. It was probably on the cusp of opening up.

Neil said post match that he knew they couldn't hold that intensity for a whole game, so decided to go man-for-man in the later stages to finish as strongly as possible. Said it was basically a gamble on getting the next goal or we would've pushed out of sight. It worked today.

It's tough to come into that situation as a sub where you're being man marked and not up to the pace of the game, and too many failed to get up to speed today. They're a very physical side and they worked extremely hard. We just couldn't find our rhythm.

That said, better execution in moments when we broke on them could've seen a very different outcome. Taylor and Akpom both spring to mind as wasting good opportunities with simple final passes.

Helps if the opposition defender needlessly waits for the ball to bounce for him nicely rather than dealing with it, thus getting easily bumped out the way, giving you all the time you want to swing the ball in.

Just because I don't care doesn't mean I don't understand.

Just like the goal we scored last week at Hillsborough.
