| Nigel’s visit and the 6000 on the season ticket list. on 17:15 - Mar 24 by Tambu | Government clearly doesn't work to my eyes. I've been around 6 decades and have yet to see it ever improve a situation. Be it a democratic government or even more totalitarian versions. It's interesting that google has changed the latin translation to the steering of a ship, from it's original translation. Gubernare : To control; Mens meaning Mind . Either way participating in that soap opera is always turkeys voting for xmas. Prejudice. To prejudge. the poster had indeed prejudged all of the people that perhaps vote in the manner they didn't approve of. I chose my words very carefully. And stop throwing those terms around, they have been used so often as to have been so diluted they have little to no effect. They are a weak comeback when there is no thought out counter idea. Thank you for the point though, you do seem more indepth than the usual chattle |
I agree about democracy to some extent, so did Churchill: "the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time". While there is clearly much left to be desired by all governments someone has to make decisions. If you've been around for 60 years you'll have seen the life expectancy in this country go from around 67 years to 82 years, that is the result of slow steady progress by governments of various stripes. To your second point you've rejected the dictionary definition of a word in favour of your own preferred meaning to agree with your original point. You say "the poster" but your comment does not appear to be a response to anyone else. My point remains, prejudice requires you to make a judgement without prior information, in this case people are reacting to publicly held positions and reported views of an individual with which they disagree. To call that prejudice implies that no-one is allowed to take a vieew on anything anyone says or does. You try to dismantle my argument by telling me which words I can and cannot use. I also choose my words carefully, racism and antisemitism have clear well established meanings and I believe Farage has amply demonstrated both apply to him. You are entitled to disagree. It's clear from your condescending final point that we are unlikely to agree, which in my opinion is success for those wishing to divide us. | |
