Let's not have a Bristol City Ashton thread after he's gone 😂.
It's a very different leaving situation. Basically done a brilliant job last few years overall but he's gone and made an absolutely ridiculous 48hrs. I wonder if it's made their Ashton thread 🤔
Whatever the outcome... on 16:54 - Mar 27 by CrayonKing
I suspect there are going to be quite a few people who'll have stories to tell once he's safely out of the way
He's an interesting one. You always need people like him at the start of building something. He's hard working (seemingly) and has a bit of a template to get loads of stuff done, set ambitious projects and hire lots of good people to do the doing.
Whatever his method you have to credit the fact he's taken the whole football club forward.
But his ego is huge and I can imagine he massively winds people up the wrong way and isn't a great boss to work for unless you are in the inner circle. There are probably better options to take us forward from this point. Whatever the outcome one shouldn't change that his tenure was very positive and he did a lot for the club. But at Chief exec level you risk losing it all when you make a really stupid mistake like he has.
That brilliant job bit worries me. It feels like we’d be throwing the baby out with the bathwater (which Bloots drinks for some strange reason). Do we want to destabilise us over this and become another victim of Farage’s divisiveness? We haven’t been in such a good position for decades and he’s played no small part in that.
But principles matter. And being lied to is taking the piss big time. And maybe we’d do better under someone else anyway. I just worry that the very divorced, non-football owners would pick a lemon. We’ve been there before.
I’m conflicted and pissed off, but mostly pissed off.
