If we did, there were no rumours and 8 million plus 2 in top ups was certainly not prohibitive money when you look at the money for McAteer. Always impressed me for WBA and only joined Southampton a few days before the window closed in the summer. Again has shown more in this game than Mcateer has all season.

He's got no goals and 5 assists total, 2 of which have come in the last two games. Edit: I should add, in total agreement re Mcateer. If we had signed a genuine upgrade on Wes Burns we would have gone up no problem. Our total reliance on the left side has been our downfall in so many games. [Post edited 4 Apr 22:28]

There’s no way they won’t make play offs. Them and Millwall - they want it, big time. It’s a big test. We have the resources, now we need to deliver…, if not it’s some size rebuild off the pitch required, but Southampton have shown what positive change can deliver .., wouldn’t be shocked if they made top two, if they play like that every week, they’ll be above us .., they were fantastic.., like our legacy side in terms of desire and sheer will to win. They got the ball forwards quickly too and created so much that way against one of the best defences in Europe .., their first defence except left back too. Previous Southampton teams didn’t do that, too slow and predictable at times, and we are too, have been all season. They’ll be very direct agent us. Not something we’ve enjoyed.., still we’re in a great position, it’s in our hands which is all you can ask at this stage.

No Raya, Timber or Saliba in the Arsenal defence either, so not sure whether it can be called "first choice". Nine points off second with a game in hand... I think it will be tough for them to make the top two but not impossible. Wembley will either boost confidence further or cause a distraction.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I'm glad we didn't spend a lot of money on him as I don't see him being able to step up to Premier League level, like Hutchinson has. I thought Dibling would do well at Everton, as he looked a quality player, but has been very underwhelming thus far. Philogene & Clarke are vastly superior footballers & both of them still have it all to prove in the PL.
