Should never have gone to Chelsea. Man U were always the place for him. Badly advised.

Anyway, in an effort to help him restart his career. How about a seasons loan if we stay up.
I’d do it in a heartbeat.

I think the point is that now he does, 12 months ago that wasn’t the case and that was reflected in the fact that Delap was so sought after - JP definitely wasn’t.

I suppose its more about acknowledging current form, but assessing future, realisable potential.

With Delap his red jot form for 3-4 months in the PL with us caught the eye. But the longer the season went on ( Into the new year), I think his game had been found out... But clubs were queing up for him based on that form . Personally I couldnt see where he had an extra in his game that could be brought on. This has been shown to be the case at Chelsea, and I Id say with the sdquad theyve got , that would be the last club Id have gone to if Id have been him. As someone has said , better to be a slightly bigger i=fish in a smaller pool... Cghelseas glamour and CL games not possibley the best platform to learn your trade at the next level where expectations would be so much higher. The counter argument is thats excatly where he sould aspire to be... But you have to have it in your locker (Potential) to make that step up . ATM Delap hasnt shown that (to me anyway )

Always thought Newcastle were made for Delap. I'd take him back for sure. Imagine how this season could have been with him in the team.

I would not take delap back. He was great in the middle four months for us, just not so good at the beginning and end.

There will be better options out there for us if we get lucky and are promoted.

Everton is the correct club for him.

If he's learnt more since he's been at Chelsea, and realised that being a battering ram needs finesse added to it, he could be ideal, otherwise I'm not too sure.

Anyone debating whether we would take Liam back on loan is a clown - of course we would a nonsense to suggest not.

Would we take on loan a regular member of the Chelsea squad who are 6th in the Premier League? Let me think about that. Of course we would. Whatever makes you think they would be looking to loan him, though?

Was Delap poorly advised to go to Chelsea where he has become a regular member of their squad and paid at least as well if not better than he would have been at Man Utd? What makes you think he would have done any better as understudy to Cunha and Sesko (or do you think signing Delap would have meant they wouldn't have signed Cunha)?

I don't get why people think Delap is doing poorly there. Yes, a lot of fans there don't like him but he was never going to be their first choice striker this season and his managers have used him as much as would have been expected. I think he will be perfectly happy where he is and will be hoping to become more involved the longer he stays there. Of course, that does require him to progress.

Personally I think Delap has some attributes that make for a good striker, pace, power, heart and decent enough technique. What he does not seem to have and should have in spdeloads having come through the Man City academy is vision and ability to dovetail with other players and adapt to whatever tactics the team is playing. If he has not learnt that by now, he is not going to unless he has some lightbulb moment. I would not take him back at Premier level as first choice. And he would not return unless he is first choice.

I see Chelsea shipped out our former striker target Mark Guiu to Sunderland on loan where he has not broken through at all, having made 3 appearances. Might be worth another approach next transfer window. He would suit our system better than Delap ever did.
