As an individual, or as a collective, why don’t we sing “We’ve got Super Kieran McKenna” with as much gusto anymore?
It’s clearly “Dara/Hirsty” now, so that excuse is past its sell-by date.
Do we just not think he’s as “Super” anymore? Should that matter? Is it because of his flirtations away? Or just general apathy with the season? That doesn’t stop us belting out EEJB.
Or am I missing something else? He’s one of our greatest ever, so it constantly baffles me…
There was belatedly a good rendition after the Norwich game, and for I think the first time this season it was sung last night during a game, but it was rather half-hearted.

I am puzzled why we don't sing it more often.

Yeah Norwich was the first time I’d really heard it feel spontaneous for a while, rather than like “Oh, we better sing it, we’ve just won”. A decent rendition in the concourse too.

Because half our support are entitled morons who expect the moon on a stick every game and when they don't get it feel aggrieved.
Has been quite funny to see the reverse ferreting from some after scum game followed by the gleeful bloodletting last night.
These are literally the good times. And all thanks to KM!
Song should be sung every game.

It really was incredible to see people questioning the bottle and desire of the players just three days after that Norwich win.

(1) I do think that the need to change the players' names in the song on a rolling basis has affected the popularity and recognisability of the song. I think this is genuinely the main reason. Songs don't stay popular for ever, and once they have to change, I think there's a risk that people move on.
(2) Whilst there is rightly much love for Kieran across almost all of the fanbase, there is not unanimity that he does indeed know exactly what we need. Scraping 6th place last time in the champ would have been a great success and met with much jubilation. And of course he surpassed that wonderfully. But this time round, we have come down from the Prem, we have a huge budget, and there is no clear litmus test of what constitutes success. I think we've been on a bit of a knife edge all season as to whether it will have constituted a successful season or not. And I think now that we can smell a second place finish, we're all feeling a little nervy. I still feel like we're on a knife edge, albeit I maybe would have taken 3rd place at the start of September.
I think if Woolfie and Freddie were still regular starters, the song would remain. Even if not, I think if Kieran had kept us up in the Prem, the song would remain. But both of those factors I think puts the pin in the momentum that the song had.
I do like the return of EEJB, which seems to me to be more popular than ever. Retro vibes. A bit tongue in cheek. Generally a bit silly. Uncontroversial. Why not. Until something else comes along...

Very well put! A new KMcK song would be good.
EEJB is great, but I do prefer it for specific purposes (like the start of a half), so people know to expect it and it isn’t overdone. By the time people here it, they belt a couple of lines (brilliantly) and it’s over.
