On the 3:30ish train from Ipswich. Group of 6 Boro fans had an argument with 2 Ipswich fans and ended up attacking one of the blues. Poor man looked like Terry butcher. He had an ambulance at Manningtree, and the Boro fans got nicked at Colchester. Really shocking - especially as it was on a broadly empty train 1.5 hours after end of the game.
I overheard the assailant say to the police that he’d never got arrested before. What a way to ruin your life. GBH on a train with a million cameras.
Hope the victim is okay! Grateful for any news.

Yes I do, that was my little brother who got smacked over the head on the train.
He is ok, he lost a lot of blood and had his head stapled back together but on the mend. They arrested one at Colchester, one in Chelmsford and the other four at York station. The Police are asking for witnesses if anybody saw anything, would you be willing to give a statement if you saw something.

I was on the carriage behind, and saw/heard the incident. Happy to make a statement if useful, I also pointed the police to the blood on the carriage from your poor brother.
Glad to hear he is on the mend - I helped his friend with the address for Manningtree station for the ambulance.

Sad really there was a family of Boro fans in the mermaid in the garden chatting with Town fans they got asked to leave but stayed even got another pint. The father had been going since the David Armstrong days all laid back let's be honest there's not a lot of rivalry I understand certain clubs fans should use the away pub only.
I remember the play off final v Barnsley the Green Man was full of Ipswich and Barnsley fans drinking and chatting zero hassle how it should be. | | | |

Jeez I take my family on a later train to avoid this sort of nonsense. I saw the police hold the train up at Colchester but wasn't aware of the incident at the time.
