| Which players might leave if we don't go up? 10:50 - Apr 21 with 1335 views | Len_Brennan | It's really important that we go up this season; apart from the fact that Wolves & one of Spurs or West Ham will be in the Championship next season, along with a number of clubs who will be better next season, we will no doubt lose some of our better players. It's hard to believe that Premier League clubs haven't noticed how assured Azor Matusiwa has looked, in a position that many sides are crying out for. Coventry & whoever else goes up would certainly be interested in him, so we can expect a £20m+ enquiry or two. Other than Azor, we would probably be contacted about Philogene, Clarke (who both look better equipped to make the move to the PL this time), O'Shea & Davis, but beyond those, I can't see us potentially losing anyone that we would be actively looking to move on. The way to avoid any such issues, of course, is to win 3 of our 4 remaining games, starting tomorrow night. [Post edited 21 Apr 11:39]

| Which players might leave if we don't go up? on 11:03 - Apr 21 with 1215 views | portmanking | As good as Matusiwa is defensively, I'm not sure many PL clubs will be desperate for his signature given his limitations on the ball. Most teams play with double pivots these days and his inability to play on the half turn is a major red flag for the highest level IMO. I would imagine one of Jaden/Jack would be sold. That's probably it, to be honest? I struggle to see PL teams clamouring for Leif (again, defensively speaking). O'Shea is on a fat deal here and clearly plays regularly for Ireland even at this level, so I doubt we'll be rushing to sell unless we get a monster offer. | | | |

I struggle to see PL teams clamouring for Philogene or Clarke either to be honest. What would we want for either of them? At least £20m, probably more. You can get someone with 100+ appearances in a top European league and experience in European competition for less than that. [Post edited 21 Apr 11:13]

I'd say, tentatively, that I think I've seen an improvement in that side of his game over the season. More of a feel than anything I can point to specific examples of, but he's certainly more up to speed with the lack of time you get on the ball in the Championship. I think he has the wherewithal and the character to develop that further too. | |

DOS will see himself as a premier league player. He's heading towards 30 now, he'll be gone if we don't go up. Plenty of the bottom half/promoted clubs would want him. [Post edited 21 Apr 12:17]

| Which players might leave if we don't go up? on 12:19 - Apr 21 with 904 views | _CliveBaker_ | O'Shea, Philogene and Davis are probably the only 3 that would attract attention from any clubs that could afford them I would think. The benefit of not going up, aside from us getting to enjoy the Championship again is probably that we wouldn't be saddled with a couple of the obligations and reverse some of the muddled recruitment. I think if we could duck out of the Akpom and Cajuste deals, and perhaps sell 1 or 2 of the bigger ticket players, as well as Muric, Szmodics, Ogbene etc to recoup as much as possible we would still be left with a strong squad and less business to do than if we go up. Clarke, Nunez, one of Davis or O'Shea, Mehmeti, McAteer, Egeli, Taylor, Matusiwa, Greaves, Furlong, Hirst, Walton, good to go next season, all good ages, and likely better for a full pre season together. Might give a chance to 1 or 2 of Humphreys, Baggot, Boniface etc to step up too. Some additions, it might in some respects be an easier squad to manage that the current one, but would rely on us getting our recruitment right. Eg Out: O'Shea regrettably Philogene regrettably Ogbene Szmodics Muric Chaplin (end of contract) Burns (end of contract) H. Clarke (end of contract) Young (end of contract) Got to be £50m there and a big chunk of wages. Don't sign any of the loanees. In as a bare minimum: CB x 2 CM x 1 #10 RM #9 Go big on 4 or 5 of those 6. Keep Humphreys and Baggott in the mix Won't happen but I wouldn't mind that path. One thing I'd like to see if we don't go up is a sensible level of churn this time, we can't afford another slow start like this season as that could be what ultimately costs us. Walton, Palmer Davis, Boniface Greaves, Baggott CB O'Shea replacement, + experienced CB Furlong, Johnson Matusiwa, Humphreys Big ticket CM, Taylor, Nunez J. Clarke, Mehmeti big ticket #10, Nunez, Egeli McAteer, RM, Egeli Big ticket CF, Hirst | | | |

I think that’s about right. I fear the Championship will be much tougher next season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads
