How to do it: Most trusts in the region now operate a 'Call 4 Concern' service which is activated by either speaking to a member of your ward team or by contacting the hospital switchboard and asking for C4C. You'll then get put through to a member of the critical care team who will then follow up on your worries. I must stress however, that it's for CLINICAL concerns, if your concern is 'the food is terrible/mum hasn't had a wash/there is someone noisy and disruptive in the bay' then that is business for PALS. https://www.england.nhs.uk/pat The bad news ism if you call [redacted general] you stand a one-in-twelve chance of speaking to me... Also, apologies everyone, this is going to be another one of my hobby horses along with 'learn CPR', 'vaccinate your bloody kids' and 'Lambert out'. [Post edited 1 May 11:00]

It wouldn’t have changed the outcome, but it may have allowed her a bit more time and/or to die with dignity. She knew more about what she needed than any professional we saw.

I think we often ignore the wisdom mothers have accumulated over their time experiencing life. I know that is a very wide general statement and not applicable in every case but we shouldn’t dismiss their views simply because they are old and mothers and yes night not have the academic “qualifications” the younger generation possess.
