This was No 1 daughters first match. For a while she thought it quite normal for somebody to present silver ware and everybody running on the pitch.

I remember the Ipswich fans running onto the pitch and running towards the Brighton fans in the away section!

A few Brighton supporters rush towards the front and started to climb the fence before the police cordon got in place!

1 Brighton fan got over and led the charge to fight - he was the only one who decided it was a good idea at this point and got swiftly knocked down and then arrested!

I’d seen quite a few games that season, including much of the run in. But work meant I couldn’t do the Oxford clincher.

Mrs C came with me for the Brighton game as my dad was in hospital. The crowd was a sell out of course (26k?) and it was a smashing day.

We were in Churchmans and I couldn’t help feeling a little sorry for Brighton. Relegated with a poor team, outplayed, a toothpaste kit and sponsored by Nobo.

At the end, pitch invasion. Mrs C was off before me and on we went. There’s a piece of my garden that will be forever Portman Road (‘acquired’ a lump of turf in 2000 too). Disgraceful.

What a fun team that was to watch. There were lots of open games that season and despite the odd miserable performance, we were better than the rest.

Happy days! What a season. Nothing like it since.
CHAMPIONS! Haven't been able to say it again for more than a third of a century. Maybe one day we'll be able to

Never forget that on 7th. April 2021, for ITFC, the Game Changed.
