Class (which I believe is permanent 😉 )!!

I’ve always liked Villa over the decades, consistently played attractive football and Villa park itself is as they say these days “top tier.”

Poll: Scottish clubs, by unwritten law we all have one, which one is yours ?

Same. I can trace it back to Tony Daley I think, loved how fast he was. Simply.

The team that wins the title is always the one that deserves to. That doesn’t mean it’s always the best team though….

They were very lucky that season. We played 20 more games than them. 20. At a time when the 1st team squad consisted of 14/15 players and only 1 sub per match. They had, what was it, 6 or 6 players who played every game? We had one.

We regularly played in Europe midweek, then in the league the following Saturday. No possibility of moving the league game to the Sunday. That wasn't a thing back then. Not a problem for Villa, who didn't qualify for Europe that season.

They didn't win the title. We lost it with the sheer quantity of games and too many players having to play with injuries at the crucial part of the season. Wouldn't happen nowadays.

Yep. We beat Villa 3 times that season!!!

Edit:

That said, we beat Cov twice this season and no one would suggest they didn't deserve to win the league.

The reality is that we played 20 (twenty!) more games over the 80/81 season and just didn't have the squad depth to compete on all fronts.
