Chappers as a club president? 08:09 - May 16 with 809 viewsRIPbobby

Connor represents almost everything we want our club to be. He perfectly models our core values of integrity, friendship, and unity.

Normally, the position of president is given to long-standing members who are a bit further along in their years. But why wait? We have an opportunity to bring Connor in as a long-term president right now. He stands for the exact future I envision for us. Even though he is still working professionally elsewhere, having him installed in this role would be an amazing step forward for the club.

He’s still got years left as a pro footballer, he wouldn’t do something else alongside it.

He is 29. Can he just get on with his career?

I think it would be quite weird having a club president who is still playing for another team.

In fact it would be bizarre.

Couldn’t we just stuff him and mount him (easy Keno!) on a plinth next to Sir Bobby?

Poll: Escaped Goat of the day. Who’s it going to be?

From my understanding a president is mostly an honorary title and not an actual role as such. There may be the odd meeting now and again, but it is certainly not a 9_5 role at all I just think everything he stands for is worth cherishing.

Perhaps I took his integrity and humanity a bit farther than others?

I love Chaplin as much as the next guy, but we can't really have him as President when he's still in the game at another club, especially in an active role on the pitch.

Besides, any suggestion to Ashton that there be a Club President would surely result in Ashton making himself Club President. If he hasn't already.
