One thing from before my time is when we won the top flight in 1962 at the first attempt there seems to be hardly any photos of us with the cup aloft or anything. Why is that? People had cameras and the club and press were aware a number of days beforehand that we would be champions. So where are they? Any links?

Burnley were in with a chance, and I don't suppose in those days they would have produced 2 trophies.
Sir Alf was a modest man (to his credit) but Stuart Watson has taken the mickey out of, and mimicked, his reaction to winning the title which appears on the above video.
"I feel fine."
Different days but maybe McKenna has shades of Sir Alf in the sense of never over-stating things.

This a fantastic book that shows Sir Alf in a new light. Cannot recommend it highly enough.

Looking back at the stats Burnley were top with three games in hand in the last month of the season but had to play 10 games and an fa cup semi final in 28 days! i.e. almost a quarter of the season in less than a month, so maybe when we rue the ending of 1980/81 we ought think maybe it worked similarly in our favour in 1961/62.
