Wilson would be a great signing 18:56 - Jun 8 with 2359 viewsFrimleyBlue

Mentioned him the past few windows, he's just got that mix of everything a newly promoted side need uptop. NO he won't last 90 minutes, but out strikers dont. And yes he may well be that striker that comes on with 20 to go. But what a player to bring on

Get it done town :)

I’ll be honest. Unless we are loaning out Hirst, and Wilson is coming in as third choice striker then I would fund this a completely underwhelming signing. We need 2 top strikers both challenging for a place in the starting eleven with a Hirst or Wilson as striker number three.

This is how I see it too.
Wilson has been a fantastic striker & is somewhat underrated despite his England caps, probably due to his injury record. If we do sign him, he will be the best goalscorer/finisher we've had since Marcus Stewart.
The thing about playing up front in a Kieran McKenna team is that we look for centre forwards, who will tussle with the centre halves, win & hold possession in order to play in the 3 attackers playing behind, or knock out wide for a flying fullback; Wilson is more of a striker, who can play off a partner & is all about his finishing.
I would be happy to have him here, even at 34, to come on & nick a goal or two, but like Glasgow Blue, I think we will still probably need to sign 2 PL quality centre forward types, who will compete to be the starter. If not, an injury could leave us very light up front.

Poll: If we go up, which new striker would you like us to sign?
