If he isn't better than either now, than his form has gone backwards, and he's still a bit younger than both. I'd have him in a heartbeat at his best.

Yep, for most of the time. That might tell you something about Nick Pope, though AR is 6 years younger.

Not sure that was based entirely on form. A World Cup, and huge relationship with the manager helped Pope.., his really poor form and not being able to get the third England spot, or even close says it all. Looked really poor at times Pope.., Ramsdales form not great when he did get chances. He’s a really good keeper though…, but also a bit of a Jonah, it’s like his mere presence guarantees the drop. Lots to like though.

Managed to displace Pope towards the end of last season, although not altogether convincing in his performances either. They are both intriguing options, both have a lot of qualities and some very obvious liabilities too. If we're looking at both of these guys, surely we should be looking at Dubravka too? Had a tough season at Burnley but seemingly came out of it with some real credit in the bank, and earned some rave reviews despite playing in an awful team. That said, on my list of priorities I'd be putting a new starting GK well down the list, I'd rather we spend big across the midfield and attack. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Ramsdale is garbage and would be far more expensive than Pope (who actually played more times last season for Newcastle and got back into the team towards the end of the season).

He didn't though. Pope ended the season as number 1. [Post edited 9 Jun 10:47]

He's not garbage, he's played nearly 200 Premier League games, has a handful of England caps and was in the PFA Team of the Season a few years ago. That's not a bad keeper, his career has just gone a little off course the past couple of seasons. He wouldn't be top of my prospective signings list but he's certainly not a bad goalkeeper. He'll be in the PL next season regardless of whether he joins us or not, I imagine he'll end up at Coventry when they give up on signing Rushworth permanently and move on.
