Just last night, I was saying that he’ll go to the top, but now, he is unproven in the Prem and has stepped away from football after just 5 years to spend time with his family. I personally take my hat off to anyone who puts their family first, but the world of football being what it is, there will now be a question mark against his resilience. He may need to almost restart, depending on how long he stays away. I wish only the best for him, what a guy.

He’s not walking away after just 5 years, his playing career and subsequent coaching career probably means he has had little break from football for 25 years. Furthermore he didn’t choose to walk away mid season, he saw the season out after achieving promotion and made a decision which he agreed with the club allowing them an entire summer to plan for next season and find a replacement.
