Liam Rosenior - convince me 13:36 - Jun 12 with 2252 viewsitfcjoe

I'm pretty relaxed about who we appoint next, and trust the club to get on with it....but funnily really struggle with Liam Rosenior who a lot of people seem to like. He's about the only one I'd want to veto from an experienced old head like Sean Dyche, down to an inexperienced coach like Brian Barry-Murphy or a foreign manager.

I don't really hold the Chelsea job against him, but just found his Hull team a pretty tough watch in the main, they had that great game against us but whenever I watched them they seemed so stodgy in possession, and totally clueless in how to turn possession into goals.

When you look at the squad they had for the second half of the season - Jacob Greaves, Jaden Philogene, Liam Delap, Tyler Morton, Ryan Giles, Pandur the keeper, Fabio Carvalho, Zaroury from Burnley, Noah Ohio, etc. and they won 3 of last 11 games to miss out on the play offs.

Hard to judge his Strasbourg spell, which is a strange job but he seemed to do well enough there; but just not one I really like at all

I can’t convince you Joe, because… on 16:14 - Jun 12 with 276 viewsunstableblue

… we’ve been used to a manager who is happy in his own skin, an extremely good communicator and not prone to hyperbole and with a strange persona

Rosenior would be a car crash

On a related note I saw an interview with Knutsen. An appointment id perhaps support. And you realise just how spoilt we’ve been with McKenna’s presence and comms.

Ashton really has to have character, comms, persona on his list.

It’s a high bar for the new manager. But I know we’ll give them a strong welcome, if the appointment profile makes sense.

Over to you Ashton.

It would be a massive let down. I would give any manager a chance but he would be incredibly uninspiring.

Some people will laugh but this is one of the most attractive OPEN jobs in world football right now.

Premier League
Well backed by ambitious owners
Great fans
Stadium upgrades coming soon
Training ground updates nearing completion
High salary ceiling
Some great places to live locally in the county

LR does not have the CV for a job like this. He got the Chelsea job because the owners were lazy and went with hope over expectation.

I think he was really involved in the development of Burnley's training ground too, and while that work might have largely been done now its still valuable experience when it comes to that transition.

There's 2 ways of looking at it really, I don't think Dyche is an exciting 5 year plan type option, but if he did 2 seasons and kept us up that would be a massive contribution towards premier league consolidation. There's no guarantees he's any more likely to do that than others of course, but as a shorter term more pragmatic pick there's some merit in it given his experience and know how.

Yep I'd take Dyche over Rosenior, very experienced head and he'll certainly toughen us up for what will be a massive challenge, his Everton side came to PR last time and it was very much boys against men, I think it really did open our eyes...
